1801 N. Federal Highway

1801 is a three story, 75,000  SF, Community Business Center. This was an existing building which served as a correctional and rehabilitation facility. It remained vacant for a decade before the current developer took ownership of the property. The building is well sited on a busy arterial boulevard with two large bodies of water flanking it’s northern and eastern façades. The building will be stripped of its facades and interiors so that only the structure remains. Gallo Herbert Architects then designed a new energy efficient skin. The existing form punctuated by a grid window pattern was manipulated to emphasize it’s porosity. The new skin varies in the depth to create a strong play of shades and shadows. Finally, a large vitrine was added on the street façade to display community art which extends into the gallery spaces within. It is through this adaptive re-use of a defunct building that a new and vital business center is born.

 

Florida Shores Bank

This is the main office facility for Centennial Bank. Centennial acquired Stonegate Bank which acquired Florida Shores Bank, the company that originally hired Gallo Herbert Architects to design the facility. This financial institution was the only Community Bank headquartered in the City of Pompano Beach. The intent of the design was to portray stability at a time when the financial industry was in disarray and to simultaneously create a design that would be consistent with much of the “Med Revival” style that is so popular in South Florida. This two story, 45 ft. tall building has interior and exterior fountains, marble floors throughout and custom millwork. Lush landscaping compliments the “Italian Villa” design. As a result of achieving numerous awards both for design and construction quality, GHA was asked to also design their other branches in Boca Raton and Venice , FL

 

Miramar Square

This 355,000 SF “Lifestyle Center” in Miramar Florida was designed by Gallo herbert Architects to be a destination for both neighborhood and regional shoppers. The center is anchored by Kohl’s, a LEED Gold designed building, and consists of multiple big box retailers as well as national and local smaller tenants. The shopping center was designed with a village concept, incorporating a multiple of structures and varying skylines, colors and textures to give each “village street” its own unique character. Gallo Herbert Architects negotiated with the City of Miramar Community Appearance Board in order to allow not only national but also local corporate identity and trade dress signage. Miramar Square today stands as a cherished jewel in the property portfolio of Woolbright Development. Gallo Herbert Architects also designed a majority of the tenant build-outs within this center as well.

 

FAU RESEARCH PARK OFFICE BUILDING

Gallo Herbert Architects was retained to design a master plan for the development of a Research Park for Florida Atlantic University. The selected site was an abandoned Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) rest area along I-95 in the City of Deerfield Beach. GHA was able to develop a final design which encompassed over 400,000 sq. ft. of research, public safety and educational buildings in a campus like setting. FAU partnered with a private developer and additional public entities, namely, the City of Deerfield Beach, the Deerfield Fire Department, Broward Sheriff’s Office and FDOT.

The first building developed was a 40,000 SF corporate headquarters for HomeBanc. This structure was designed by GHA and completed in 2005. Additional buildings in the Park are the City of Deerfield Beach EMOC and the State Farm Hurricane Awareness Center. In 2012 GHA began working with a new insurance provider in Florida named People’s Trust Insurance Company. This company was growing at an unprecedented rate. PTIC ultimately acquired the HomeBanc building and GHA designed new facades, parking for 500 vehicles and completely re-purposed the interior. Presently, GHA is designing a new 120,000 SF addition to house upper management, dining facilities and areas for disaster relief as well as back room operations.
