William J. Gallo, AIA, LEED AP
William J. Gallo, AIA, LEED® AP is Chairman/CEO of Gallo Herbert Architects, an architecture, interior design and consulting firm. His duties include overview of all firm business development and client relations. Mr. Gallo personally performs consulting services associated with Owner’s Authorized Representation, Financial Feasibility Analysis and Expert Testimony for Litigation and Dispute Resolution. He is NCARB certified and registered in FL, NY, GA, MA, NJ, DC, DE, PA and SC.
Mr. Gallo is unique in the design and construction business. His training includes architecture, construction management and development economics. He began at the Pratt Institute in New York where he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree. He culminated his education with a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts where he focused on systems design and development economics. This rare combination of businessman and architect has made Mr. Gallo extremely effective in his field.
In 1973 Mr. Gallo founded an architecture and construction management firm, with offices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. During this time he specialized in healthcare, long term care design and educational environments. Additionally, the firm became active in certification and development of historically significant properties. In 1985 a development subsidiary of Security Savings Bank, a publicly traded financial institution purchased the firm. During the next three years he served as Chief Operating Officer of the fixed asset management consulting subsidiary, responsible for overall operations. Mr. Gallo later founded the Gallo Group, which evolved into Gallo Architects & Development Consultants, Inc. Today the company is known as Gallo Herbert Architects.
During his professional career, Mr. Gallo has been recognized for the design of noteworthy projects which have received awards for design innovation and green sustainable practices. Key Florida projects the firm has performed and received recognition for are, The Graduate Dormitories at Nova Southeastern University, Davie, Florida, Department of Homeland Security Southeast Sector Headquarters, Pembroke Pines, Fountains of Miramar, Shopping Center, FAU Research Park, Deerfield Beach, Johnson & Wales University, North Miami, Master Plan, FAU College of Engineering LEED Platinum Banquet Facility as well as FAU Chartwells Dining Facilities and Gulf Reflections Community, Fort Myers. Additionally, Mr. Gallo has received recognition from the Construction Association of South Florida for his own home which won, “best overall residential design and construction”. In 2010 Mr. Gallo was featured as one of the, “100 Florida Architects & Designers”.
Community service is important to Mr. Gallo’s core values. Currently he serves on many local committees and organizations and has been published in numerous periodicals. He is Board Member and Past President of Historic Stranahan House, is a Member of the City of Lighthouse Point Planning & Zoning Board, former Vice Chair of the City of Deerfield Beach Housing Authority, former Member of the Boca Raton Airport Aviation Advisory Board, Member of the Advisory Board to the Nova Southeastern University Center for Psychological Studies and Chair of the Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Institute Dean’s Development Council. Professionally, he is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Association of South Florida and serves as a Director on the Board of Florida Shores Bank. He has also lectured locally to professional groups and has served as a guest critic at the Rhode Island School of Design and Spring Garden College where he served as faculty from 1974 through 1979.
